Alien Sculpture by Teggy Alien Sculpture by Teggy
ok i have just had an Artist Brain explosion! i'v been holding onto some spare super sculpey till i could work out a decent armature and a decent concept to make a sculpture, and the time to make it was yesterday and today!

This is an Alien (i do want to give it a proper name but for now it doesn't have one) that lurks around in the dark. Because its sights is week it uses all other senses to move around in the dark.

When i get some time tomorrow i hope to turn this guy into a character and make a proper REference sheet for him, i'd make one now but my brain has run out of explosions and are a bit mooshie.

i was inspired by Beastofoblivion's Creature Sculpt, i really likes the way she made the skin look realistic and how the muscles stood out, so for mine i had a go at the same technique.
I can understand if our sculptures look alike but that was not my intention at all, i was mealy using Beastofoblivion's sculpture to learn from, and i learn so much!

It's wonderful! amazing!!! I love it so much! cute haha. I also love the fact it has more than one set of front legs, i'm plain jane and go with simple leg sets of the usual 4 legs lol.

I think this is an amazing attempt at working from a sketch, I wish my patience allowed me to finally get something like that done! If you keep up that skill, you are sure to become a great sculptor!

yours,
Fabrizio

I'm curious - how come there are two photos of the sculpture that seem to be a different color? Are these photos of the sculpture before it was baked? In any case, those two grey-ish photos are really the best out of them all! I would not be able to do this sort of thing. Beautiful work!

ha yeah those two were before baked photos, i took a lot of before baked photos and i thought they were ok on the camera viewer but when i looked at them again on my computer (by this time alien guy was in the oven) the photos were so shitty. so when it came out of the oven i took somemore photos, but they weren't as cool as the before baked ones :C anyway i'm still figuring out how i'm going to paint him so new photos will be posted of that some day ^_^
thanks for commenting :3

This turned out really cool, you did a great job with it! VERY nice work getting the muscle tone and teeth out, and it's got a nice solid pose. Fantastic work! I look forward to seeing it painted.

Yay, a new character! :la: Can't wait to see this sculpture finished. What did you use for the armature, 'cause I've been wanting to sculpt too but I don't know where to start.

How did you start sculpting? Did you take any classes? I would *love* to be able to sculpt, but I don't have any materials or the knowledge of where to buy them.

ha! nar i didn't do any classes for this sort of sculpting, but a few years back i learn a bit about clay sculpting. nar this sort of armature sculpting was trial and error for me, i have made a few Super Sculpey sculptures and most of then have fallen apart and i'm like why is that "google it" oh so thats why! i'll fix that for the next one ^_^ haha hopefully this one wont brake.

It is friggin awesome!
I love how the baked parts came out with a very natural skin tone / shading!
And the legs, hoyl carp! <3

Is the big head also acting like a sensor, sort of like hammerhead sharks? They have bad sight, but awesome sense and smell and can actually feel...life/electrisity I dunno... Is it like that?

Ah, that's a good idea!
Hmm. I like how fleshy he is. So maybe warmer, more earth-toned or red colors? *shrug*
Play with lots of ideas. If you make various different digital color schemes, can you put them on DA for us to see?~

i have several different sculpting tools and for the skin the one i used to most was the sharpest almost needle-like tool and i drew in each wrinkle by hand. Thanks for viewing!

i just had a really sharp sculpting tool and draw in each and every wrinkle. i know it sounds like hard work but it was quite soothing and i had to stop my self from adding all the detail till the very end! good luck with your school assignment
